Our control box mitigates several barriers for mass produced small heliostats.

We have developed a new method for tracking heliostats.  Our device tracks by measuring the real orientation of the mirror. The result is a SELF CORRECTING control of the heliostat orientation by means of a closed loop on the mirror orientation. This means that any events happening to the support due to heavy wind or other types of changes do not affect the beam accuracy.
The demo video’s on the video page show the results for our Proof of Concept model.

The closed loop control on mirror orientation has several advantages.

• Support and foundation can be made less stiff , so cheaper
• Gears and drives can be less accurate, so cheaper
• Calibration should never be repeated, thus less downtime

The device is calibrated in the factory and autonomously completes calibration after installation.

The last calibration step determines the direction of the mirror compared to the control box. This is an automated process that needs only be don once. The result will never change, except in case parts would be replaced.

The beam accuracy of our control system is better than 1 m at a distance of 1000 meter.
